To All My Wonderful Readers

The time has come for me to call it a day.  I am now pretty much bed bound and have lost my capabilities of getting online.  My soon to be son-in-law Dave the Genius is typing this for me.

I want all of you to know what a great ride it's been.  Without the support and ongoing of input from all of you it would have been an exercise in frustration.  Here's wishing you and your families all the good things in life.  God bless you all.

Love,
Bob

Bob, we love you so much, even those like me who are your "newer" friends. Your kindness and your awesome stories have touched me in more ways than you'll ever know. I can't even begin to tell you how many times you've made me laugh (and cry, too). You have a true gift, and thank you for sharing it with all of us. God bless you and your family. You are the greatest, Bob! Love Always from Julie

I'm so glad we met too. I can't say too much without getting pathetic but I'm thinking of you and sending you love. You're a special man, Bob and I'm going to miss you.

Bob...you'll always be here, as your words are here. Your thoughts, emotions, laughter, tears...all of it. Your words have made me laugh, but most of all you made me think. Thank you Bubba. Thank you friend. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. ((gentle hugs))

Regretfully I knew this time would come, still I'm unprepared. As painful as it is, each man must go, but my friend, your words will linger in my mind like a sweet fragrant breeze. God Bless you and family, Bubba.

Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

I could search forever for the right words but I fear I would never find them. You have achieved what every writer dreams of... immortality! You, my friend, will be in the hearts and minds of your readers and friends forever. God bless you and yours. Thank you for sharing your writing, your heart and most of all,for the gift of friendship.

Love you,

Heh, Bob. This round of bloggolf was amazing. I learned so much from reading/watching you. And that last par five you played was perfect. Massive drive bending round the dogleg, 2 iron over the trees, lucky bounce over bunker (hehe) and then a 28 foot put that went bothways before pausing, and dropping into its natural home. You are a legend, big feller, always will be.

WOW!, Dad. You sure have made an impact on many more people than just us kids in this life. I read all the comments, and cried myself. Us Church's are gonna leave one hell of a footprint on this earth. And it's all because of you, Bob Church.

My dear friend, Bob… What can I say about a loquacious American wordsmith extraordinaire who willingly shares his mastery and love of the English language (and much more) with a verbally challenged Scot?

These words are borrowed from you-know-who, “When an honest writer discovers an imposition it is his simple duty to strip it bare and hurl it down from its place of honour, no matter who suffers by it; any other course would render him unworthy of the public confidence.” More than anyone I know you have fulfilled that duty in spades.

“Praise is well, compliment is well, but affection--that is the last and final and most precious reward that any man can win, whether by character or achievement.”

May God bless you and your lovely family.

Hey Bob, sorry it took me so long to comment but words are hard to find. All I can say is thanks for some of the most meaningful and insightful comments ever left on my blog and also for your inimitable style which has brought me much joy and pause for thought. Peace.

Hello, Bob - I am over here from Julie's sight. I wasn't prepared for a post like this. Just want to say that I admire your courage. It looks like you have many friends who care very much for you. You are truly blessed.
Peace, Bob.

Bob, I just hate death, its seeming permanence, the way I won't be able to call you anymore...

What is a person, and who are they to others, how do we stay connected?

Bob, I only know you somewhat distantly and through your writing. To your family I want to say that Bob, was incredible, an indefatigable writer, and a wit par excellence...a good person.

I will never forget him...

Condolences and peace to the Church family and many friends of Bob's on and offline. I'm here because of Julie's post regarding the "awesome news" that Bob's essay on the Ladel will be published in the Dead Mule. (See the comment above me from their staff member.)

I look forward to reading this gifted man's words online this Fri. Before posting here, I drank his words in and that of the commenters for over an hour. I will return soon to read more of his artfully spun words that will live forever.Thank you to his family for keeping this site up.

Peace,
Lynne

To those who would like to remember Bob, I did an interview with him 7 years ago at a mutual writing site. I've posted it if you'd like to read it. It will warm your heart, vintage Bob.

Hi Dad. Well it looks as though I am finally getting married in a few days. How I wish you were here to walk me down the aisle. Blake is going to stand in for you, and that makes me happy. Kimmy picked out a special story of yours to read during the ceremony. I will do my best not to be a blubbering mess while she reads it. The Ladle seems to hold a special spot in most of our hearts. It will be wonderful. You will be with me all day. And you should be happy to know that our first dance will be to In Spite of Ourselves. Again, I will do my best to keep my composure. I love you and miss you more now than ever.

COngratulations! Somehow picturing your dad walking you down the aisle in spirit only is a very happy thought, I don't know why. Maybe because you all will have him on your minds and "with" you all day long. It's nice to see you pop up in here now and then. :)
